Counselor Supervisors are responsible for:

  • Provide support, intervention, direction, and conflict resolution to encourage clients through difficult phases of recovery during substance use disorder treatment.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop and implement complex treatment plans for clients with dual diagnoses, social or mental health issues.
  • Schedule and oversee delivery of services.
  • Carry a caseload that will not exceed 50 clients.
  • Evaluate the work performance and provide supervision to counselors.
  • Serve as a professional resource to other Counselors in resolving complex case problems and provides clinical supervision and guidance.

Job Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in psychology, social work, mental health or substance abuse counseling, or closely related field.
  • Three (3) years of relevant experience, preferably including at least 2 years of clinical supervision following certification or licensure attainment.
  • Current Certified Addictions Professional (CAP) or Certified Criminal Justice Addictions Professional (CCJAP) or Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of group and individual dynamics, conflict resolution, intervention techniques, and confrontation skills.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state rules and regulations governing health records confidentiality.
  • Strong supervisory skills.
  • Time and project management skills.
  • Advanced communication skills to exchange information and interact with treatment team, clients, client families and outside vendors and agencies.
  • Critical thinking, persuasion and negotiation skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk and move about the facilities for up to two hours at a time, to monitor and interact with clients.
  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Ability to record, proofread and check documents and files for accuracy.
  • Ability to use a keyboard and video display terminal to receive, retrieve, and/or audit information and data.
  • Ability to respond to telephones, and to hear and detect alarms and unusual noises

Work Environment:

Outpatient treatment building working with individuals under the Supervision of the Florida Department of Corrections
