Program Directors are responsible for:

  • Responsible for planning, organizing, directing and controlling the management and delivery of quality client services and related administrative and support activities, within a defined substance abuse treatment program.
  • Reviews clinical treatment activities, results and documentation; and ensures compliance with program and Foundation standards and objectives, and applicable contracts and regulations.
  • Participates in developing program budgets, goals, and policies; and ensures effective implementation and administration of same.
  • Reviews compliance with established program/contract objectives and regulations, government regulations, and accreditation standards.  Works with program management to redirect and/or motivate staff to meet service delivery objectives and compliance standards; works with supervisory staff to initiate and implement appropriate client corrective actions as necessary.
  • Assists management in developing and refining program policies and procedures.  Researches, plans and secures approval of, and implements new or enhanced program services per contract to ensure maximum utilization of unit treatment resources.
  • Serves as program liaison to maintain and foster cooperative working relationships between Gateway and County employees to support program quality and effectiveness. 
  • Hires, trains, develops, monitors, and evaluate performance of program operational, clinical, or support staff.

Job Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in criminal justice, counseling or a related field
  • Current license as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the State of Texas
  • 5-7 years of progressively more responsible experience in the substance abuse treatment field with at least 3 years of concurrent supervisory experience
  • At least 2 years of treatment experience in a residential corrections environment is a plus
  • Must be able to obtain clearance from Dallas County
  • Working knowledge of federal  and state rules and regulations governing health records confidentiality
  • Good communication and relationship building experience
  • Must have flexibility in schedule

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk and move about the facilities for up to two hours at a time, to monitor and interact with clients
  • Ability to record, proofread and check documents and files for accuracy, to prepare and analyze data and figures, transcribe, read
  • Ability to communicate with others, and speak to groups or individuals in order to gather and present information.
