About Our Atascocita Location (Harris County):
Gateway’s largest facility, Atascocita is a residential correctional center focused solely on substance use treatment for court-ordered clients. With 12 buildings and nearly 500 clients, the facility provides a structured, secure environment without armed guards. Staff work collaboratively in a team of 170, including counselors, probation officers, and support staff. The location is undergoing major renovations to become a state-of-the-art treatment center. We foster a supportive culture with team-building activities, recognition programs, and a strong mission-driven focus on recovery and rehabilitation.
Work Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday; 1:30PM - 10:00PM
Shift Managers are responsible for:
- Schedules assigned staff, tracks employee timekeeping, facilitates team meetings, conducts performance review evaluations, and individual staff supervision meetings. Makes recommendations to the DCM Manager for disciplinary actions and terminations.
- Screens employment applications, participates in the interview process, and makes recommendations to supervisor for subsequent interviews and hiring.
- Orients and trains assigned staff to the program, department and specific job responsibilities. Assists assigned staff with performance improvement, training, and development.
- Enforces house rules, initiates disciplinary actions or revocation of privileges and provides crisis intervention or conflict resolution as necessary notifying the client’s counselor of clinical issues. Initiates emergency call procedures as appropriate; submits appropriate documentation regarding any incidents in the milieu.
- Completes shift documentation and verifies accuracy of information of documentation completed by subordinate staff.
- Assists employees with interpretations of and following standard operating policies and procedures of Gateway and Department of State Health Services (DSHS) to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma; Associate’s degree preferred
- Two years of experience in the corrections or substance abuse field, and at least one year of supervisory / management experience
- Valid local driver’s license
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to walk or move about facility for up to two hours at a time, to monitor and interact with clients
- Ability to speak with others in order to exchange information and provide support
- Ability to proofread and check documents and files for accuracy on a regular basis
- Ability to respond to telephones and pages, and to hear and detect alarms and unusual noises
- Ability to drive an automobile or van
- Ability to remain alert to traffic conditions, and to identify and comply with traffic signals and signs
Compensation (based on experience and credentials):
- The salary is $42,000 per year
- Gateway Foundation conducts annual reviews including merit increases
