Physicians are responsible for:

  • Supervising the medical services and general health care of clients at the Center
  • Providing medical expertise in the development of new or revised treatment techniques and procedure
  • Ensuring the medical care practices and documentation comply with all applicable licensing and accreditation standards
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree and residence in primary specialty required
  • Current professional license to practice medicine in the state of Illinois and Board Certification, with established medical privileges at one or more local hospitals
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience
  • Current certification or eligibility and recognition by the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) as a qualified medical practitioner in addictions medicine for Gateway Foundation accredited programs

Physical Requirements:

  • Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person or by telephone in order to gather and exchange information
  • Ability to record, proofread and check documents and files for accuracy, to prepare and analyze data and figures, transcribe, read
  • Ability to use a keyboard and video display terminal to receive, retrieve, and/or audit information and  data
  • Ability to respond to telephones, and to hear and detect alarms and unusual noises
