The Compliance and Privacy Officer is responsible for: 

  • Developing and implementing the  organization’s compliance program, ensuring compliance with the requirements of federal, state and local laws and regulations including; CMS, Stark, Anti-Kickback, EKRA, FWA,
  • Overseeing the code of conduct, ethics, and conflict of interest policies, including the ethics reporting hotline
  • Directing organizational activities relating to the development, implementation, and maintenance of Gateway's privacy program to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory obligations related to Protected Health Information (PHI) as required by Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA), 42 CFR Part 2, and state privacy laws.
  • Designing and implementing a comprehensive audit and monitoring system for our programs.
  • Serving as an expert advisor on all compliance-related matters, providing guidance to senior leadership and ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Leading internal investigations into compliance issues, allegations, or breaches, ensuring thorough documentation and implementation of corrective actions as necessary.
  • Fostering a culture of compliance and integrity throughout the organization by providing ongoing education and training to staff on relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
  • Staying abreast of legislative and regulatory changes that impact the SUD treatment field, analyzing potential impacts on the organization and adjusting compliance strategies accordingly.
  • Participating in relevant networking and healthcare organizations to ensure top of mind knowledge in industry regulations and best practices.
  • Managing effective due diligence and monitoring program of third parties and vendors.
  • Timely responding to compliance inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Interacting with the Board of Directors as requested, and prepares reports on the compliance program and matters.
  • Serve as the organization’s HIPAA Privacy Officer
  • Designing and implementing a comprehensive online privacy policy that aligns with industry best practices and regulatory requirements, ensuring transparent communication of how patient and visitor data is collected, used, and protected on our website.Ensuring the protection, privacy and safeguarding of employee data and information

 

Requirements: 

  • 5 – 7 years’ experience as a compliance manager/ director or senior level role in a healthcare setting, preferably with a focus on behavioral health or substance abuse disorder treatment.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and compile complex data for planning and reporting purposes.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to represent the organization externally across a wide range of stakeholders and constituencies; experience in making presentations to a variety of audiences.
  • Strong leadership skills demonstrated by ownership of issues through their resolution while providing sound guidance to others.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of regulatory compliance requirements surrounding the behavioral healthcare, substance abuse disorder treatment services, and privacy and confidentiality regulations.
  • Community awareness and astuteness and a demonstrated commitment to the values of diversity, inclusiveness, and empowerment.
  • Resilient and flexible with the ability to successfully navigate in a fast-paced, outcomes-driven, and entrepreneurial environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work under deadlines.
  • Passion for Gateway’s mission and purpose and an ability to communicate this passion to others.
  • Advanced degree (JD, MBA, MA/MS)  preferred.
  • Travel to sites across the country required as we operate as a national organization.
