Alumni Coordinators are responsible for:
The Alumni Coordinator leads alumni activities and groups during and post treatment for Gateway Foundation alumni by organizing and arranging events and social outings that build a community of recovery. Maintains contact post treatment and supports Gateway alumni.
- Builds face to face relationship with patients while in treatment to talk about alumni program and facilitating going home groups and other groups.
- Provides clients with information on alumni program, events, local support groups and other recovery activities.
- Explains and collects signed contact authorization forms from patients to contact after they leave treatment and send them to marketing.
- Meets and engages with patients who have authorized Gateway to connect with them post treatment via social media.
- Coordinates graduation events and activities, including ordering t-shirts, coins and other marketing materials. Arranges alumni speakers at each site and tracks RSVP’s and event attendance.
- Collaborates with Director of Events and Executive Director to plan monthly off site outings, annual alumni reunion and other events.
- Assists with event planning, set up and cleanup:
- Promotes Gateway Alumni events at 12-step meetings, recovery houses and throughout the recovery community.
- Develops flyers, text, email and social media posts.
- Follows up with alums by phone or text at 30, 60 and 90 day, etc. intervals post treatment. Refers alumni to services and other community resources.
- Develops various community partnerships within counties to help provide additional services to alumni. Assists in organizing and/or scheduling employment workshops (resume building, interview skills, relapse prevention groups, etc.).
- Develops a list of trusted alumni ambassadors to assist with outreach, events and mentoring
- Maintains database of facility alumni and meeting participants:
- Develops and maintains contacts with recovery community, SMART, Refuge and 12-step groups.
- Distributes and encourages +Google review directions and alumni referral cards. Provides content for Facebook and new Gateway recovery mobile app.
Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Required to be in a recovery program with at least two years of continuous sobriety
- Some experience in community outreach, sales or working with public preferred
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
- Strong attention to details and follow up skills

Physical requirements:
- Ability to communicate effectively in person or by telephone in order to gather and exchange information
- Ability to record, proofread, and check documents and files for accuracy, to prepare and analyze data and figures, transcribe and read
- Ability to use a keyboard and video display terminal to receive, retrieve, and/or audit information and data
- Ability to respond to telephones, and to hear and detect alarms and unusual noises
- Ability to travel to different locations for business
