DUI Evaluator (CADC, LPC or LSW) is responsible for providing Driver's Risk Education classes and all DUI related services:

  • Complete comprehensive DUI evaluations for clients’ substance abuse history and treatment requirements; assess client treatment needs; interpret and explain client evaluation and treatment recommendation; enroll client in appropriate program; set-up payment schedules and process payments per Gateway Foundation procedures.
  • Track client attendance and process completion certificates, admissions and discharges specific for DUI Risk Education, or provide appropriate notification to the courts for non-compliance as required. 
  • Conduct Risk Education Groups and face-to-face interviews using the appropriate assessment tools in accordance with DUI state and regulatory standards.
  • Counsel individuals requiring assistance dealing with substance use problems through the DMV and/or court mandated programs. Refer individuals to other support and/or employment services as recommended and/or as required and stipulated by court and legal mandates.
  • Review and maintain accurate and timely records as required by the court and Gateway Foundation policy.
  • Monitor condition of individual clients to evaluate successful completion of the DUI program.
  • Compile and maintain accurate records of business transactions, office activities, and group sessions to assure compliance with internal and external audits.
  • Provide counseling and educational programs in accordance with evaluation and recommendation as it pertains to Administrative Code Title 77; Part 2060 Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Treatment and Intervention Licenses.
  • Caseload typically includes some complex cases requiring more intensive services with ongoing evaluations, updates, and recommendations to/for the client in accordance with court mandates.
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent education and life experience, with a minimum of 100 hours of documented clinical training in counseling theory and practice required
  • Current certification as a substance abuse counselor (CADC) or higher licensure (LPC, LSW) in state of hire required to be able to meet requirements to conduct DUI Evaluations
  • Minimum 2 years of previous experience with substance abuse or mental health counseling required
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of DUI services
  • Knowledge of the cultural and social patterns of the population served.
  • Must be will to work flexible hours, including regular evening shifts.
  • Related work experience with program specific population (adolescent/adult) and residential treatment setting required

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk and move about the facilities for up to two hours at a time, to monitor and interact with clients
  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Ability to use a keyboard and video display terminal to receive, retrieve, and/or audit information and data
  • Ability to record, proofread and check documents and files for accuracy
  • Ability to respond to telephones, and to hear and detect alarms and unusual noises
  • Must be at least 21 years of age to operate a Gateway vehicle
